Tile heritage: Ceramic Excellence by Villeroy&Boch
Ceramic tiles are part of European architectural culture. Drawing on 275 years of ceramic excellence, Villeroy&Boch Tiles – like few other brands – influenced and shaped the culture of designing rooms.
For more than 20 years now, Villeroy&Boch Tiles has been joining forces with the financially strong and internationally operating Holding, the Eczacıbaşı Group. Since August 2022, we have been manufacturing our tiles according to international quality standards in one of the most modern tile manufacturing factories in Bozüyük, Türkiye, to ensure and further improve the Quality of our products.
Due to its long history, Villeroy&Boch Tiles has actively helped to develop European spatial culture. With factories in Mettlach, Dresden and Septfontaine, Villeroy&Boch was the most important German manufacturer of ceramic tiles in the 19th century.
From a luxury item for nobility and clergy to a design object for everyone: Villeroy&Boch is the first company to develop a durable stoneware decor that can be produced in large quantities thanks to machine production. By the end of the 19th century, the company was already delivering millions of tiles all over the world.
Revolution in the bathroom: Renowned designers such as Kenzo and Colani created bold interior designs for Villeroy&Boch in the 1960s and staged the bathroom as an oasis of well-being for the first time.
Three design styles emerged from the company’s tradition and social change, which still organize the product world of Villeroy&Boch today: The classic style (“Classic”) goes back to the noble, aristocratic roots of the families. The country house style (“country”) arose as a reaction to industrialization in the 19th century and reflects the rustic aesthetics of the nature-loving founding families. The third design style (“Metropolitan”) was added in the 1990s as part of increasing urbanization and brings to live contemporary trends in modern urban living.
