Holiday Inn Express Merzig

After nearly two years of construction, the Holiday Inn Express Merzig opened its doors in August 2019. This 3-star hotel was built in the Merzig Sport and Leisure Park and features restaurants, a brewery, a wellness and spa centre with swimming pool as well as several sports facilities. Located near the A8 motorway by which the airports in Luxembourg and Saarbrücken can be reached in around 40 minutes, and just a 10-minute walk from the Merzig railway station and city centre, this hotel appeals to business and leisure travellers alike.

Holiday Inn Express Merzig is nestled in a park-like outdoor complex that spans nearly 5,200 m². With 85 guest rooms and three fully-equipped meeting rooms, the hotel is designed as a modern, three-storey L-shaped structure. The ground floor houses a front desk, the breakfast area, a lobby bar and a business centre that is open round the clock. Guests are also welcome to use the hotel’s garden terrace, parking spaces and charging stations for eBikes. Built to the specifications of the KfW-55 Standard, the structure is heated with an air-source heat pump and features a photovoltaic system. The investment for the hotel totalled EUR 7.5 million. The hotel led to the creation of some 20 new jobs in all.

Measuring approx. 20 m² and fitted out to contemporary standards of functional comfort, the hotel rooms are barrier-free and accessible using two lifts. The minimalist style of the room furnishings is consistently reflected in the guest bathrooms: here, tiles by Villeroy & Boch in pure white and harmonious hues of grey create a pleasantly clear atmosphere. To achieve this, the walls are finished in a classic, brickwork look using 10 x 30-cm nonvitreous tiles from the professional PRO ARCHITECTURA concept. In addition, black 60 x 60 cm porcelain stoneware floor tiles from the PURE LINE system range have been laid in the hallway and entrance area of the rooms. With an understated concrete look, and available in ten coordinated colours and eight formats, this range allows for a wide variety of designs.
